Our 8th Celebration Week function was a huge success, thanks to all our members who took part. We managed to raise R55 476.00 for this worthy cause. The charity we chose this year is a local one in Atlantis called Emmanuel Day Care Centre. The Centre takes care of 41 mentally challenged children aged between 2 and 25. The centre was originally started by the parents of the children to enable the parents to go out to work, or have a break from the relentless care of their child. The Centre greatly relies on donations to keep the facility going. It costs R 6000 per month to transport the kids daily to and from the centre, and in total approximately R 20 000 per month to keep it going with food & supplies etc. The small government subsidy does not cover food for one day. I am sure we’ve made a difference to enhance the life of these special children.

In our last Ambassador meeting the issue regarding the ablution facility on the 5th was raised. This has been considered in our 2010 Financial Year budget for projects, which starts in July 2009. We will keep you updated with the developments.
