![]() · Allen Bland GOLF COURSE MAINTENANCE Rainfall: 11mm rain this month which brings our total to 55mm for the 2007 year. Over and above our normal day to day maintenance routine we are currently also busy with the following projects: Post and Rail: Spraying the Kikuyu out of the fynbos along post & rail will be an ongoing process. Greens: As the soil analysis results indicate that there is a shortage of magnesium and potassium, we will be fertilizing the greens next month to rectify the shortages of magnesium and potassium. The elpher fertilise programme is still in progress. Greens will be lightly sanded towards the end of the month. Tees & Fairways: The soil analysis also indicated a shortage of magnesium and potassium, so we will be fertilizing the fairways to rectify. The fertilizing of all tees is still in progress. All fairways and semi roughs are in the process of being fertilised. Bare areas have been sodded at holes 4,5,11 & 13. Kikuyu: The test plot to eradicate kikuyu out of the cynodon will be sprayed before winter. Landscape Areas: The fynbos areas at no 15 are in the process of being landscaped, with veld grasses. Projects: The bunkers at No 15 green and No 3 fairway and green will be re-shaped. All compacted areas are in the process of being hollowtyned and fertilised. With the bunker at the driving range, we will be trying a new concept for the revetting of the bunker.
The
Cats Tip of the month: Golfers need to change their game plan for the winter, as the wind will be coming from the north west. Allen Bland Golf Course Superintendent |

During the school holidays we had a jumping castle for the kids and our two tennis coaches gave a tennis clinic that the kids enjoyed. Our movie night was a great success and we look forward to the next one. Please look out for our emails where we advertise all our events at the Leisure Centre. You can also go onto the web site to make sure you do not miss out. To all our Heartbeat participants, you will be able to collect your Heartbeat rewards on the 7th July 2007. We will be putting up posters and mailing all members with more information on the event. Keep the date open!! Please go to the website to see the new Heartbeat program for the year 2007 - 2008. We will be doing it a bit different and it will be more exciting next year. Thank you to all the members that bought into the program and we know it makes a difference in your lifestyle.
